Big Mac

How did it happen that I went so long without blogging?

I imagine that  all my avid fans are out there checking and rechecking their computers multiple times a day to see if I’ve posted anything yet.

Day after day the overwhelming disappointment: Nothing blogged. Still the same page. (Albeit a good one.)

I imagine you in mild sorrow (not intense sorrow, because then I would have too much guilt) quietly crying out to your computer, “Melinda, where are you?”

Delusional again? Me? Probably. I usually am.

But at least I’m back and my delusions make me happy. Not that I want you to have mild sorrow, just to miss me. :-)

So, where I have I been? I’ll start by telling you where I am now.

In Heaven.

On earth.

I’m sitting on my back deck. (That is no longer the deck of death with the rotting floorboards and missing railing, but is now a safe and comfortable place–except for the wasps which are alive and well in spite of a cold, wet spring.) So, Ken is playing the guitar and singing hymns to me. Po is reading on the tramp. The other kids are running around the yard and only arguing occasionally and don’t think anyone has physically injured anyone yet. Heaven on earth.

So, where was I when I didn’t blog? Well, it was spring break for an entire week. We did something fun (and cheap) each day.  We went to and laughed at the dollar movies (Bedtime Stories, cute but (?)), I kicked trash with bowling (those bumper pads are life savers), we saw and acted like monkeys at zoo, tore up an eight mile bike ride, oh, and we can’t forget the bird refuge (that had a whopping total of 4 birds and 4 billion mosquitoes. Not one our best stay-cation location ideas).

Other than that, I’ve been writing. A lot. My book is almost finished.  A few transitions and a few scenes are all that are left and then, my friends, it is time to hone and refine. Okay, I’m already doing that a little. I’m at 47,000+ words. I think I’ll have 55 or 60 thousand when I’m done.

The truth:

Since I’ve been so involved in writing my book, I haven’t felt the need to express myself in my blog.

Don’t worry, my book will be worth the silence here.

Oh, yeah.

Udpate:  The wasps are getting friendly. Ken is getting the hiccups. Po is getting a sunburn.

What else?

Oh, yeah. Cowboy bought a new laptop and gave me his MacBook. I’m a Mac User. Capitalize that when you type it, because I’m officially a snob. Not that I can even figure out this computer, but at least I look cool. That’s the important thing, right?

So, bro, I’ve got to go. Sundays are too too short.

What did I tell you about the shameless use of the word Bro? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Hey Jill!

Thanks Jewel!

Kristi–that was just for you, Bro.

Melinda! I found you!

For some reason clicking on the follower thingy does not give me an option to find you, BUT I googled you and you came right up!

I’ve read a couple posts so far and read your 100 (err, 53) things about you and … you are wicked awesome!

I love your voice–and I love your smile in real life.

Thank you so much for coming up to say hi the other day–you made my day and I felt really blessed for having met you.

I’ll be around now, and am really looking forward to getting to know you!
