Falling…
I would have to say that fall would be my favorite time of year(I repeat: WOULD BE my favorite) except for on small detail: winter. It’s coming. It almost ruins the season, kills my enjoyment of the vibrant colored leaves that will soon be crunching under my feet. And love for all things orange. (not that that is possible)
Note: Spring is the season that fills me with hope and joy. And I start to thaw out. How I love spring.
This fall has been so warm, it’s making me forget that W is lurking around the corner like a bad case of pms. In this weather, I can ignore the fact the for the next six months I will be interminably cold.
I think I’m falling in love with fall.
Here’s why:
When I go for walks, I see this.
My garden is still finally giving me fruits such as these.
(If you have never had home-made watermelon, you are missing out.)
Also, I don’t have a picture of it, but there is nothing I love more in the fall than wearing a new pumpkin colored shirt. I have been wearing my Gap find almost every day. . . with the vibrant orange necklace gifted me by my ever generous and Cold Water Creek Clearance Shopper (AKA: my mom). (Mom, it never fails to draw compliments to me, so thanks.)
Also, I don’t have a picture, because we pretty much devoured the entire thing: Pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. From scratch. (And you thought I couldn’t cook. Pshaw.) I love to eat pumpkin. I wonder if it would be as good if it were any other color. Orange is the true color of the gods. I’m an authority on that . . .
Essentially, I am immersing myself in this glorious fall. And. Loving. Every. Minute.
How about you?
Horror! I just realized I haven’t decorated yet! A new item for the top of my to do list! (As if it weren’t impossibly long in the first place. Sigh. I may wait for the Christmas decorations…)
What are you doing to celebrate this glorious fall?
Added later: gap.com just had the decency to inform me that Jacket and Coat Season is Here. I’m not believing them for a second. Well, until next week anyway.
I love, love, love your blog. Did I say that already. I think I must have but you do such a good job! I love your descriptive writing, I so wish I could write like that. Anyway….love ya! Have a good day!
Carie, You totally just made my day. Thanks.
I love Fall also. I would love to have these temps year round…not too hot and not too cold. I guess I better move to Hawaii
!
Haven’t you heard that quote about the ‘present’ being a ‘present’???? Don’t think about the snow!
Your garden booty looks delicious. I’m jealous.
