That Bugs Me!
I just had to announce it because it has got to be some kind of record.
I got my first mosquito bite!!!
Of the year! Not counting the random one that I got in January and I don’t know how that happened either.
I live near the Great Salt Lake. Not like on it or anything, but close enough that there is swampy area down the road and lots of mosquitoes.
So, the MAD (Mosquito Abatement Department–I am not making that up) is really taking the whole West Nile thing seriously because this is the first time I have made it until almost August without a bite. Still not counting the January incident.
So, I got bit on my toe. What a pain because toes are hard to scratch. Especially if you wear shoes. I try to wear shoes as little as possible. Thus the bite.
One time I got bit on my head and I looked like a monkey scratching my head all the time. I’m sure the neighbors thought I had lice.
I had nightmares about lice the other night.
So for Pioneer Day we went to a small town parade. And then later canoing and fishing. I don’t really fish. I just swat at bugs and make sure the kids don’t fall in.
I got two nasty fly bites. One drew blood. In some ways they are worse than mosquitoes.
I’m glad that I don’t live somewhere that I have to sleep under a net to avoid getting malaria from mosquitoes.
I reached my writing goal today. 1000+words.
Excuse me while I go and itch my toe.
Sorry about the mosquito bite! And congrats on making it this far. I have about 30 right now! And ten on one foot alone, so I feel for ya! But more for myself. hehe
Eep West Nile.
This is why it pays to be a writer. You don’t ever have to go outside except to check the mail. Don’t get sick on me because I don’t think I could cope.
Good job on the word count! You’ve got to have about 10,000 words since the Writing for Charity event. You go.
Oh yeah, and DON’T SCRATCH!
Heather, you have my deepest sympathies, may you remain West Nile free.
Kristi, I think you nailed it with the whole writer thing. That is about the only time I go outside. Seriously. I don’t know my word count–my chapters are too random.
