Go to the Mattresses
Want to know a secret? Lean in close and I’ll tell you. My back isn’t hurting today. It hasn’t hurt for several days now and that’s a record. My head doesn’t hurt either. I had a headache that lasted almost a week. It’s gone.
Before you think I’m becoming old and have a sudden desire to speak freely of body aches and pains to anyone who will listen, whether they care or not, I’ll tell you the real reason I am sharing this news:
I HAVE A NEW MATTRESS!!!
It’s the first time in my 34 year history that I have owned a decent mattress.
Before this I owned a hotel mattress. Firm and level but please don’t think about the hundreds of strangers who have slept in that bed. It totally grosses me out. (If you come to visit, you can sleep on that mattress yourself since we have moved it into the guest bedroom. Aren’t U lucky? Maybe someone famous slept on it, but I doubt it, because it probably came from a Super 8 or a Hotel 6) Stop thinking about it okay?!
It was an improvement from my last mattress that was like 30 years old and belonged to Cowboy’s GRANDPARENTS until they wore it out and generously gave it to Cowboy who slept on it for like 10 years before I married him. I inherited the thing. No one knows what I suffered (P&P quote) sleeping on that mattress. FIVE pregnancies and hot tears of pain and complain to Cowboy, but to no avail. The bed slanted toward him and I had to pile pillows around to support myself. Miserable!
Before that, in high school, I had a mattress that was new and after about 6 months the springs started poking through and digging my sides, so my dad gave me an eggcarton foam mattress, maybe I took it. Anyway, it was for a queen size and I had a twin so I had to fold it over. Lopsided. I was on a slant once again.
Before that I had Great Grandma H.’s mattress. It was old and we kids wondered if she had died on it. Yes, it was the oldest thing I’d ever seen, besides her. It sunk nearly to the floor and I asked my dad to put somthing under it because I couldn’t sleep well in a big dip like that. So he got a board. One. and he put it under the bed off-center, so that I had one small dip and one large dip. And then I could choose which dip to sleep in -much better. Even Robbi wouldn’t sleep in it when she came over. Spoiled girl!
My earliest recollections of matresses is sleeping on the matress wires with a blanket over them, but they dug into my back something aweful. But then again, I was only four.
I hope I’ve stirred enough sympathy for a pity party.
I now have a California King Beauty Rest Exepcionale! Highest in the class. I sleep like heaven! So don’t feel too sorry for me. I may even recovered the good posture I lost from sleeping on lousy mattesses. Who knows?
I agree that mattresses can hurt when they are old. I have an old mattress that hurts my back every time I sleep on it. Even with boards under it I still have a back-ache!
At our cousins house after a sleepover, I amazingly don’t have a back-ache! I need a new mattress realy bad.
